December 30, 2021The official draw ceremony of AFF U-23 Championship 2022 was held on December 29 in Singapore, which organized by ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).
Myanmar is in Group B of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U23 Championship 2022 alongside with Indonesia, Malaysia and Laos. The hosts Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Philippines and Brunei are in Group A while Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore are in Group C.
Teams were ranked based on the previous tournament in 2019, AFF announced.
The AFF U-23 Championship 2022 is scheduled to take place from February 14 to 26 next year at the Morodok Techno Stadium and Prince Stadium, Cambodia.
The teams are to play in the round-robin format. The three top teams from each group and the best second-place team will compete in the semi-finals.
To prepare for the tournament, Myanmar U-23 players will gather for a training session in Yangon from next year early January.
It will be the third edition of the AFF U-23 Championship after the first and second tournaments in 2005 and 2019, respectively.
Myanmar earned a bronze medal in the 2005 edition after beating to Malaysia in penalty shoot-out in the third place match.
